Craft beer is finally creeping into Abu Dhabi...sure we are only about 10years behind the rest of the world....but better late than never. Stock Burger, located in the Holiday Inn (Embassies district), is one of the few restaurants that has brought craft beer to the capital, not to mention a fun pub menu, and lively atmosphere.
The restaurant is large, airy, and very modern. There is also a scattering of flat screens on the walls, showing whatever are the day’s biggest sporting events. The bar is huge and is the center of the restaurant both literally and figuratively. There are multiple beer taps and a whole wall of refrigerators displaying one of the best selections of some of the rarest beer in the city. And, the crazy thing is, that amazing selection goes on sale for a few hours every afternoon, 2 for the price of 1.
So the food... Stock Burger (obviously) is technically a burger joint, so they have a large variety of burgers with creative toppings, and also two veggie burger options (falafel and portobello mushroom). I didn't dare venture into the veggie burger realm, due to my fear of being drastically disappointed. So, unfortunately, I can't comment on those. The original meat patties are more gourmet than anything else and are cooked to a crisply charred exterior, but still juicy and moist on the inside. There are about 6 varieties of fries from the original thick-cut to sweet potato and even vegetable "fries". They serve a handful of great sharing starters and a few other main specials like Fish and Chips and a really beautiful skewer of 8 char-grilled head-on shrimp. Both of those plates were worth recommending. Although I think my Fish was previously frozen...still fine, but not ideal. The Chips are battered thick like the Fish, which is a little more interesting.
Dessert is a little too sweet for me, but if you find you have a sweet tooth, there will be no problem in satisfying it here. Most of the desserts are served trendily in a mason jar with two long sundae spoons. One of the winners is the Sticky Date pudding.
