Aperitivo {Roberto's @ Galleria }

While Italy is known for many things, one that is lesser known is the Aperitivo, the Italian cocktail hour.  Every night the bars and restaurants offer up their special or classic cocktails with complementary bites.  Unlike our staunch marathon drinking British counterparts, Italians can't drink without at least some little bit of food.  It makes for an amazing evening when you head down to your local bar, order a cocktail (or a few) to sit and chat with your friends over little Italian snacks....can you tell it is one of my favorite activities in Italy? 

 Sooo now, we have the Aperitivo in Abu Dhabi!  Roberto's on Maryah Island has again brought the best of Italian culture to our little dessert outpost.  Every evening from 4pm to 8pm, they offer great prices on Italian cocktails (some creative and some classic), wine and beer with complementary Italian snacks to soak up some of that liquid.  

Robeto's location could not be better, situated on the Galleria promenade.  As you sip your Aperol Spritz, you can look out onto the water and watch the couples, families and shoppers stroll.  With the indoor/outdoor seating you always feel the best of both.  A little covering from the heat or wind, but open enough to feel the air and and smell the salty sea.     

Right now the Aperitivo evenings at Robertos are still a little secret...which means better for us! The staff is attentive and the canapes are served hot.  Wow, that Truffle Arancini.... I could have eaten a plate of those. And it is EVERY NIGHT of the week.  I even took the lil' one down there, and she was more than welcome (in typical Italian style).
Many people don't think of Roberto's for a drink after work, maybe they think it seems too chic (i.e. expensive).  BUT, an unnamed restaurant and bar next door, which is always packed with the after work crowd, charges more for their drinks (which are not as good) without serving any amazing bites along with them!  With Roberto's shaking up the cocktail scene, you may suddenly have a new spot to sip away the sunset.
